How To Check Table Dimensions
This page describes how to add or remove rows within a defined table.
You can check the table dimensions by clicking in the Name Box, found beside the Formula Bar. Begin typing “rdg” to jump to the list of defined tables. Select a name from the list to see the entire table highlighted.
About Inserting Rows
Inserting should occur inside the table, rather than adding above or below the table. To capture rows added to the top or bottom of a linked table so they are visible in the HTML document, please see Adjusting a Defined Range.
Insert a Row
Right-click on the row header where a line will be added and choose “Insert” from the menu. That’s it! If you’d like to confirm that the table area is correct, use the Name Box as described above.
After uploading your changes, make sure to apply any needed formatting such as bold or indent in the Editor. Also check to make sure surrounding rows are formatted correctly.
Delete a Row
Hidden rows will not appear in the HTML document, so you may choose to hide a row rather than remove it altogether. Right-click on the row header and choose “Delete” or “Hide.”
Simply reducing row height will not remove or hide the row from the HTML document.
“Group” is another method that will prevent a row from showing. The “Group” option is found on the Data ribbon in Excel, and when applied it will show + in the margin to indicate there is a hidden row there.
Upload the Excel
Don’t forget to press “Upload” in the add-in window, then open the document in the Editor to see updated tables. See Upload an Excel for complete instructions.
