Special Character Chart

RDG Help Center > ThunderDome® Editor > Special Character Chart

The special character chart makes it easy to insert SEC-approved characters in your document. In some cases, symbols do not convert correctly when a Word document is uploaded as source file, and many symbols generated with fonts such as Wingdings are not permitted in filings. You may also need to insert new characters while updating the document.

Popular Characters

Some common characters include:

Ballot boxes – ☐ – replace invalid characters such as brackets on the cover page of a form.

Double quotation marks – “/” – add “curly quotes” or smart quotes where they are preferred over straight quote marks.

Financial symbols – ¥ – use variations that are missing from a standard keyboard.

How to Insert Special Characters

Open your document in the Editor. Position your cursor where the character should be added or highlight text that will be replaced by the new character.

Find the Insert ribbon, press the Character button, and select one of the available symbols.

Once a special character has been inserted, you can use CTRL + C and CTRL + V to copy and paste the character to different locations in your document.
