Frequently asked questions about EDGAR Next from preparation to enrollment.
ENROLLMENT
How do we enroll now that the September 15 deadline has passed?
If a filer did not enroll in EDGAR Next prior to September 12, 2025, they can no longer submit filings to the SEC. There are two paths to enroll and regain filing access between now and December 19, 2025.
Path 1 – You have the required codes OR access to the current EDGAR Point of Contact on file.
If you have a valid CIK, CCC, and Passphrase, you can enroll in EDGAR Next using the SEC’s enrollment tool or RDG can enroll on your behalf for $250 per CIK.
Your CCC and Passphrase must be newer than September 2019 to be valid for enrollment. If they are not, they must be reset. If you do not have a valid CCC or Passphrase the codes can be reset if you know who is listed as the point of contact on the account. RDG does not have access to this information.
Path 2 – You do not have the required codes or access to the current EDGAR Point of Contact on file.
You must file a Form ID. Instructions for filing the Form ID with the SEC can be found here.
During enrollment, can I list RDG Filings as an account administrator?
If you are enrolling yourself or your company, RDG does not need to be an account administrator. After adding the first two required account administrators during enrollment, you are welcome to add RDG as an additional account administrator if you wish. NOTE: Adding RDG as an account administrator does not replace delegating RDG to file on your behalf. Delegation is still a required step.
How do we enroll a new person or entity who has never filed? They do not have a CIK.
You will need to complete the Form ID process to apply for EDGAR access. Once the Form ID is accepted by SEC, the filer will automatically be subject to EDGAR Next and does not need to enroll.
Access the Form ID from the dashboard of the new EDGAR Filer Management website, where you will use your individual Login.gov credentials to sign in. From the dashboard, select APPLY FOR EDGAR ACCESS > New > CONTINUE, and follow the prompts to complete the Form ID process.
Before starting the Form ID, search for the filer’s name in the EDGAR company database to make sure they do not already have a CIK. The CIK does not expire and Form IDs will be rejected if duplication is possible.
Login.GOV ACCOUNTS
Do I need a Login.gov account?
If you are an account administrator, user, or technical administrator for your company, you need your own Login.gov credentials.
Do individuals filing Section 16 reports need their own Login.gov account?
Not exactly. Each reporting owner’s CIK must have their own EDGAR Next account but anyone they wish can create and administer the account. That person would need a Login.gov account. Reporting owners can manage their own accounts or delegate administration, but an account must have at least one account administrator.
Can an individual have multiple Login.gov accounts?
Yes, you can maintain separate professional and personal Login.gov accounts.
What happens if a board member serves on multiple boards with different filers?
Each reporting owner (CEO, director, etc.) will have their own account. The account administrator can delegate filing authority to multiple agents or attorneys as needed.
roles & Delegation
Do I have to make RDG an account administrator?
RDG does not need to be an account administrator for you or your company to continue using ThunderDome; you only need to delegate filing authority to RDG Filings after your enrollment is completed. Our CIK is 0001437749.
Can RDG serve as a technical administrator?
Yes, RDG can act as a technical administrator if you would like us to manage your filer API token as needed. It is not required if you have a plan to manage your own tokens.
Can filing authority be delegated to multiple agents (e.g., RDG and another firm)?
Yes, you can delegate filing authority to multiple filing agents, law firms, or individuals. There is no limit on the number of delegations.
What roles should I assign to the people registered with my company?
Please see SEC‘s detailed explanation of EDGAR Next roles.
Filing
Can I still file on EDGAR‘s legacy system?
All EDGAR sites are now in compliance with EDGAR Next. These include EDGAR Filing, EDGAR Online Forms, and EDGAR Filer Management. Access requires Login.gov credentials with multifactor authentication and filers must be enrolled in EDGAR Next to submit filings to the SEC.
Is there anything I need to do in ThunderDome prior to filing in the EDGAR Next system?
Yes, delegation needs to be confirmed in ThunderDome. If you enroll yourself and are a ThunderDome user, you can enter your filer token or choose to use RDG‘s filer API token, then confirm delegation in ThunderDome.
How can I obtain the Filer Token and User Token?
Once enrolled in EDGAR Next, the Technical Administrator can generate a filer token from the Filer Management Dashboard. Account administrators and filers can obtain their individual user tokens from the Filer Management Dashboard.
