Frequently asked questions about EDGAR Next accounts, delegation, settings, and more.
filer management
How do we enroll a new individual or company filer? They do not have a CIK.
You will need to complete the Form ID process to apply for EDGAR access. Once the Form ID is accepted by SEC, the filer will automatically be subject to EDGAR Next; there is not a separate enrollment.
Access the Form ID from the dashboard of the new EDGAR Filer Management website, where you will use your individual Login.gov credentials to sign in. From the dashboard, select APPLY FOR EDGAR ACCESS > New > CONTINUE, and follow the prompts to complete the Form ID process.
Before starting the Form ID, search for the filer’s name in the EDGAR company database to make sure they do not already have a CIK. The CIK does not expire and Form IDs will be rejected if duplication is possible.
How do we enroll an existing filer?
Enrollment in EDGAR Next has closed. Filers who do not have access to EDGAR must submit a Form ID online.
There is a selection for “EXISTING EDGAR account” that retains the filer CIK and some associated EDGAR account data.
Do I need a Login.gov account?
If you are an account administrator, user, or technical administrator for your company, you need your own Login.gov credentials.
Do individual filers need their own Login.gov accounts?
Not exactly. Each reporting owner’s CIK must have their own EDGAR Next account but anyone they wish can create and administer the account on EDGAR Filer Management. That person would need a Login.gov account. Reporting owners can manage their own accounts or delegate administration, but an account must have at least one account administrator.
Can we still file on EDGAR‘s legacy system?
No, the old EDGAR system has been discontinued. All EDGAR sites are now in compliance with EDGAR Next, and filers must have EDGAR Next access to submit filings to the SEC.
filing in RDG16
How do I update my EDGAR Next settings in RDG16?
Please see our instructions for updating EDGAR Next settings in RDG16. Token settings are required for each user, issuer, and reporting owner prior to filing.
What happens if a board member serves on multiple boards with different filers?
The reporting owner‘s account administrator can delegate filing authority to multiple agents or attorneys as needed.
filing in thunderdome®
Is there anything I need to do in ThunderDome® prior to filing?
Yes, delegation needs to be confirmed in ThunderDome. If you enroll yourself and are a ThunderDome user, you can enter your filer token or choose to use RDG‘s filer API token, then confirm delegation in ThunderDome.
How can I obtain the Filer Token and User Token?
Once enrolled in EDGAR Next, the Technical Administrator can generate a filer token from the Filer Management Dashboard. Account administrators and filers can obtain their individual user tokens from the Filer Management Dashboard.
Delegation & roles
Do I have to make RDG an account administrator?
RDG does not need to be an account administrator; you only need to delegate filing authority to RDG Filings prior to filing with ThunderDome® or RDG16. Our CIK is 0001437749.
Can I list RDG Filings as an account administrator?
After two account administrators have been added through the Form ID submission process or after, you are welcome to add RDG as an additional account administrator if you wish. Adding RDG as an account administrator does not replace delegating RDG to file on your behalf. Delegation is still a required step.
Can RDG serve as a technical administrator?
Yes, RDG can act as a technical administrator if you would like us to manage your filer API token as needed. It is not required if you have a plan to manage your own tokens.
Can filing authority be delegated to multiple agents (e.g., RDG and another firm)?
Yes, you can delegate filing authority to multiple filing agents, law firms, or individuals. There is no limit on the number of delegations.
What roles should I assign to the people registered with my company?
Please see SEC‘s detailed explanation of EDGAR Next roles.
