There are several situations when copying a project will save time and reduce errors. For example, a Form 8-K that was filed in ThunderDome® can be used to create future 8-Ks without having to re-create a tagged cover page each time.
The copying process is simple but requires you to check for information that needs updating in the new form such as EDGAR submission values and hyperlinks.
Locate the File
If the project is being copied from a filed or archived form, change the Dashboard Status to “Filed” or “Archived.” If the project is being copied from a standard template, it might appear under “Open” projects.
Copy the File
Click on a description to open the Project Management view.
Click “Project Properties,” then “Copy Project.”
In the “Copy This Project to a New Project” pop-up, choose the Project Type, Form Type, and type a description.
For Form 8-K, the XBRL and iXBRL defaults are correct and do not need to be changed.
The copy process may take a few seconds to complete. A confirmation message will appear when the project has been successfully copied.
Add EDGAR Submission Data
Return to the Dashboard and toggle the Status to show Open projects.
Now open the new project. Please be sure to update the EDGAR Submission values as needed. Red highlights indicate required data values. Please remember to save the changes.
